Hosanna 2011

Please note that this wine is only sold in full cases of 6. 96/100 VertdeVin. Tasted: Jan 2020. The nose is elegant, fresh, aromatic and offers a small power and finesse. This wine needs to be put in carafe. It reveals notes of ripe blackberry, clove and small notes of ripe strawberry associated with a touch of ripe blueberry, lily as well as fine hints of mushroom, nutmeg and very fine hints of spices. The palate is fruity, well-balanced and offers minerality, freshness as well as tension. On the palate this wine expresses notes of wild blackberry, wild strawberry, small notes of cloves associated with fine touches of liquorice stick, dry blueberry as well as a fine hint of violet/lily. Good length.

Now one of my favorite Pomerols (a 2005 tasted in Beijing, China recently was out of this world), the 2011 Hosanna does not have the power of that vintage, or 2009 and 2010, but it exhibits complex forest floor, floral, black raspberry and black cherry notes. With a savory, broad opulence as well as a medium to full-bodied appeal, this silky smooth, seductive, complex wine can be drunk now or cellared for a decade or more. (RP, 4/2014)
